Huawei Open to European Supervision, Says Executive in Speech

Chinese telecoms giant Huawei Needs cyber-security to be viewed as a technical rather than ideological issue and is Amenable to Oversight by European Authorities to prove the point, a senior Business executive is expected to State on Thursday evening.

Liu will reiterate that Huawei hasn’t and would never harm the interests of customers or countries.

“Cyber-security should stay as a technical problem rather than an ideological matter. Because technical issues can always be solved through the ideal solutions while ideological issue cannot,” Liu will state at the company’s Chinese New Year reception in Brussels, according to a copy of his address seen by Reuters.

“We are always willing to take the oversight and suggestions of all European governments, clients and partners.”

Liu will state that Huawei devices, tested by numerous regulators and telecoms operators, haven’t caused any critical cyber-security breaches.

The United States has launched a campaign to convince European allies not to use gear from the world’s greatest producer of telecoms gear for 5G networks, citing security risks.

Germany has stated it wants high data security criteria for its 5G network.
